Large-frame MK III Hand Guard models make use of an eccentric nut design whereby the barrel retainer nut is not centered in the receiver extension. This allows use of the same smaller 2" tube as our small-frame hand guard models rather than requiring a larger diameter. At the same time, this design does cause the barrel to sit slightly below center in the hand guard tube. This is purely an aesthetic characteristic and does not affect barrel-tube parallelism or durability.
Tactical Rail Selection:
Any rail segments purchased at the same time as MK III Hand Guard are available at 20% off when selected from the the menus at right. All rails are anodized black regardless of any color option upgrade.
Full-length 12:00 rails or the 2-inch front sight rail (JPTR-FS) can be attached directly to the top of the hand guard tube while two- and four-inch accessory rails can be mounted directly (without backer plates) to the tube at the 6:00 position using the 10-32 flathead screws included with the rail segments.
For the 3:00, 9:00 and each of the 45° positions, the Signature tube design uses rail segments with backer plates that fit into the tube slots. Refer to the table below to determine which rails you need for a given application.
